Redditor brings attention to alleged sex games targeting young Filipino players on Roblox

Roblox may be one of the most popular gaming platforms for children, but there could be inappropriate games lurking beneath.

A Redditor called attention to alleged sex-themed games inside Roblox that are targeted towards young Filipino players.

User u/BukPlayzlol alleged on the r/Philippines subreddit that young Filipino Roblox players, many of them children, may be exposed to explicit games that exist on the platform such as “PH Hangout 22o” and “Boldhaven.”

“You can remove your clothes and do sexual acts,” the user shared, adding that they found popular Filipino landmarks inside the game such as the Pinoy Big Brother House, the motel chain SOGO, and grilled chicken joint Mang Inasal. “When I joined the first game, there was the PBB House, SOGO, and a Mang Inasal. When I went inside the house, I saw two players having sex inside there,” they shared.

The user also said that most of the players in the game were likely children.

“How did I know? I saw the game’s chat in the game in which one of the players revealed their age which was 10, I also saw ages 9, 11, and 12,” they shared, adding that he also saw the N-word and “Nazis” being used in conversation.

“Some players in there are even asking if they can hookup irl (in real life),” they added.

While explicit games violate Roblox’s policy, the user pointed out that the platform’s administrators can take time when acting on reports.

When another user doubted the veracity of u/BukPlayzlol’s claim, the latter responded by sending a YouTube video by a Filipino Roblox streamer exploring PH Hangout 22o with the title, “May nahuli akong nagkakantutan” (I caught someone fucking).

While some users were alarmed, many also pointed out that sex games were nothing new on Roblox.

“Predators exist everywhere,” one said.

“This has long been a problem on Roblox. I don’t know why the devs aren’t doing anything to fix this,” another chimed in.

“As fun as I find Roblox, their moderation sucks. Even today there are still tons of ‘condo games’ and even Roblox as a corporation is disgusting,” one mentioned.

Typically dubbed as “condo games,” sex-themed games on the family-friendly Roblox are a problem worldwide. Unlikely to appear on someone’s Popular feed, the BBC wrote that players would have to go out of their way to find these games.
