Incoming smart lockers at LRT-1 will allow you to choose stations as pickup points for delivery parcels

If you’ve ever experienced trouble with pickup points for your e-commerce purchases, this may help make things easier: the new smart lockers at the Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT-1) can help you set your pickup points at an LRT-1 station nearest to you through contactless delivery.

The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) announced that it would roll out the country’s first smart locker system across LRT-1 stations in Metro Manila in February, after partnering with Airspeed Group of Companies, the parent company of PopBox.

Popular in countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia, PopBox would allow users to set the nearest LRT-1 station as a delivery pickup point for their purchases. Users would be assigned to a smart locker, where the delivery rider will place the items, and which they can open with a passcode.

The LRMC said that this meant Airspeed would act as its official logistics partner, and would help customers such as e-commerce platforms and small and medium-sized businesses.
