A huge catch: Palawan fisherman hauls in massive 270 kg blue marlin

A fisherman in Palawan couldn’t believe his luck after having caught a massive blue marlin off the coast of Balabac on Feb. 22.

Pao-Paw Ruta uploaded photos of the giant fish he caught online, which weighed 270 kilograms, and showed him lying happily on top of his catch. 

He also shared on his post that he and his fellow fishermen had a hard time hauling the blue marlin onto the boat because of its massive size. 

The hard work seems to have paid off, however. Ruta was also able to immediately find a buyer for the gigantic blue marlin, which is estimated to sell in the market for PHP280 to PHP300 a kilo (US$5.07 to US$5.44), amounting to a total sale of PHP75,600 to PHP81,000 (US$1370.20 to US$1468.07).
