Comedian Jo Koy visits Bacolod to inaugurate a high school road he helped build

In case you’ve seen photos of Jo Koy around the Philippines on social media, then you would be correct: the Filipino-American comedian was in the city of Bacolod, Negros Occidental, for a six-hour trip to witness the inauguration of a public school road donated by the Jo Koy Foundation.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted the Hollywood star at a local coffee shop and posted the images on social media. Local reports said that Jo Koy, real name Joseph Glenn Herbert, arrived in Bacolod at 10am on Friday, but had actually been in the Philippines since Dec. 28 for a family vacation.

The star reportedly went straight to Alangilan National High School to inaugurate the 589-meter road his foundation helped build.

The Jo Koy Foundation donated PHP1.59 million (US$28,894) for the road construction, but a school official said that only PHP1.2 million was used for the road, with the remaining budget used to rehabilitate the school’s water facility and for building a guard house.
Jo Koy is best known for his high-rated Netflix specials Comin’ In Hot and In His Elements. He recently starred in the film Easter Sunday, which focused on a Filipino-American family.
