Kamala Harris meeting with Marcos and Duterte during PH visit

United States Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly meeting with our own heads of state as she visits the Philippines next week, a US official has confirmed.

Harris will sit down with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and Vice President Sara Duterte, with the US VP set to have a longer meeting with Marcos to discuss strengthening the security alliance between both countries, as well as their economic relationship.

Harris is flying in next week after her participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Bangkok.

She will be meeting with civil society activists to demonstrate America’s continued support of human rights and democracy, and hold a town hall meeting with young Filipino women about participating in economic and social development.

The vice president will also travel to Palawan, meeting with Philippine Coast Guard representatives and local leaders in a showcase of commitment of the United States to peace and stability in the disputed South China Sea.
